Server News:
Progress on the Ent-D continues.
Decks 30 to 35 have officially been completed and closed up.
And decks 22-29 have been separated apart so that we can begin building out those decks.

mheller3000 - Server News:
Server News:
After a long update regiment the server is back up and better than ever.
Here is a quick rundown of the highlights.
1. Enterprise-J Fully scaled imported into its own quadrant in the South-West part of the map.
2. Nebula, Akira, Dervish, Hermes and two new Atro Ships have been imported as well.
3. majority of grass ground covering has been converted to glowstone.
4. roads expanded in all four cardinal directions for future expansion.
5. numerous plugin updates hopefully will make the server run a bit better long term and also getting ready to update to 1.7.2 when ready.
6. updated dynmap and reconfigured it, I added a new zoom level so the entire map can be viewed at maximum zoom out and also added a new view to complement the SE 30 degree surface view with a SW 30 degree surface view so people can see the other side of the ships.
7. Cut the perception class in half for Atro so cleaning and build out can begin.
8. Also added some additional ship classes, Nelson Class, Vendetta Class, Kyoto Class ships
I hope everyone enjoys the updates and additions.

Welcome Back MineTrek!
A short time ago we celebrated the 3 year anniversary of the beginning of the MineTrek project, and the Shipyards forum. Today we celebrate the beginnings of a new era for MineTrek...
In the above image (and indeed on the map itself @ dynmap.minetrek.net) you can see pretty clearly the massive ships dominating the lower left quadrant, the greatest of which is none other than the Enterprise J, imported thanks to the amazing work of our admin, mheller3000!
Off to the right you can see a huge assortment of various Romulan, Klingon, Cardassian, and even Ferengi vessels. Someone recently joked that the Ferengi vessels should be quite easy to build, since they're bound to be 95% cargo space! (See, I do it too, just like I said! I'm not clever...)
And if you have a particularly keen eye you'll notice that not all of these ships are from Star Trek! What? Say it isn't so! But indeed we have branched off to include vessels from Mass Effect, Macross, Halo, and others.
We've also seen some changes server side such as the addition of more ranks to allow a few more promotion opportunities. The server has been updated to 1.6.2 of course, and the plan is to update it to 1.7.2+ sometime in the next month or three. Meanwhile we've got resource packs (download the resource pack) to update and dozens of ships to build!
So how is the Enterprise D coming along, the blog has been away for a year so a lot has been left without coverage. I'll skip the details but the ship has been opened up into split decks to allow easy access and much faster work locating and building. Decks 42-34 are finished and 33-30 are nearly done, so we'll be moving upward into the neck of the ship soon. I know the neck area is quite thin so we'll probably finish it quite quickly if we focus (there are plenty of distractions of late!)
Sundays are now the official "Build the Enterprise NCC-1701-D" day of the week, and while its not a requirement, or even actively encouraged, I'd just like to see a little more love sent the old girl's way. If nothing else comes from it, I'll have guilted myself into building her on Sundays! :P
Check back soon, expect to see some new "Check This Out" episodes as well as some videos in the not too distant future! :D
*salute*

Revival of the Blog
This blog has been dormant for quite some time but its time to revive it. Over the next few weeks we will be posting a bunch of new information about the server to keep track of a lot of changes that have happened over the past several months and the things that will be happening in the future.
For now just know that while the server is in downtime it is only temporary. Some major edits had to happen and there was a power outage, but it will be back online!
- The server is now home to dozens of imported hulls from ships from all corners of the Star Trek universe, and some from outside it.
- The server is now running version 1.6.2 of Minecraft, so that is the one to connect with.
- The texture pack (resource pack now) has been updated quite a bit, be sure to grab it at wiki.minetrek.net
- The Enterprise D is almost finished with the current set of open decking, time to move up!

MineTrek Alive and Well!
Thanksgiving is about family and I thought I would share how thankful I am to be part of this community of people, every one of us a fan of Star Trek, you're like another family to me.
So what has happened on the server since the last blog post?
I'll go ahead and let DM7 do the work for me. :D

As I've not been in charge of the server I've been absent a lot more lately than I should be, so things have been moving on steadily of course. I've been taking more interest in the server again and so I'm going to try to get this going steady again through the new year! :D
Some other things of note:
- Klingon Bird of Prey is finished
- New ships such as Nebula, Enterprise C, and several other creations
- Running on 1.3.2 presently until bukkit and plugins get updated
- Make sure you check the shipyards forums and log into the server to see what's happening!

- Build day was, in my opinion, a success! We shall have another sometime!
- Video is coming along, but I am a lazy admin.
- Plugin updates, so maybe not THAT lazy. The server is running better and is more secure than ever.

- Slice and Dice.

Baby-Sov, By Atrocities
Some effort more recently has been put into getting the Enterprise E onto the server. Most of that work was initially focused around the hull due to the problem of acquiring any kind of internal schematics for the ship... but apparently, they exist, someone made them, and despite their rarity we were able to get a hold of an HD version of the plans.
Those in hand, we set out to get this thing made. Wow... that is a lot more work than I realized. What we need is some seriously dedicated cleanup artists - it just so happens we recently had one drop by!
Thanks to his efforts there is now a decking-included version of the ship in the server, albeit a bit off-scaled in various ways. You can barely tell, it looks amazing and as per usual MineTrek style, has all the internals (minus walls, decor, turbolifts, ... you get the picture).
Sovereign Spacedock, By 14jroyer
I had thought of doing one of these initially for the Enterprise D when I first envisioned the server coming to 1.2. Maybe that was a bit too ambitious, the ship is so large...
But someone has made one for Sovereign class ships, and it turns out it fits MineTrek size just dandy! With their offer (or should I say request?) to use it on the server, I went ahead and gave our new Sovereign a shipyard.
Check it out!

Voyager is coming home!
I know it has been done before, by several different builders / teams, but we at MineTrek have our way of doing things and we just had to have our own Voyager.
So take a look at some of the screenshots.

Thank the Maker!
In person (well digital person) no less! Halkun has been dropping by a few times recently and seems to have taken interest in his old project again, which makes everyone around here pretty happy. I'm just glad hes getting to see how far along things have gotten and the direction the project is going.
In my eyes, the next step is get Ed Whitefire to visit the server... and then maybe Patrick Stewart or something. *cackle*
Ok enough talk about famous people. :D

Tonight we dine on sliced decking!
It was a simple process that went completely wrong on me the first go, but I managed to render up each deck of the ship using mcmap. The images are very interesting - its like looking at a dynmap rendered view of each deck.
Here are a few samples. The rest of the files can be downloaded by visiting our forums!

Build Day for the Enterprise D!
Yep, that's right, we're going to have an "event" on the server!
What:
- On a specific day, for 24 hours, set aside your other projects and builds for a while and build rooms on the Enterprise D! The more gets built the better!
When:
- This time we'll have this event for the first time on Saturday the 19th of this month (May).
How:
- Log in any time on the 19th you want and build on the Enterprise D. You can fill in quarters like mad, find a few science labs to build, or if you're feeling brave start going deck to deck and filling in rooms as you go! If you need to be given permission for each room, I will try to be around a lot that day to make sure you get it!
Why:
- It's a great chance to show your dedication to the project and maybe earn Ensign rank.
- I'll be including some of the new rooms in my upcoming video of the server. Show us what you can build!
- We'll be one step closer to finishing the Enterprise D. Maybe if we have these build days once in a while we'll be able to do that!

Do please attend at some point that day! The more the merrier, the more we get done on the D!
